Mitigation for Hot Spots and Surges

When Imperial County developed an alarming surge of COVID-19 cases in early June, the state developed a “strike team” approach to mitigation, with the hospital associations playing a pivotal role in supporting those hospitals.

In August, new hot spots cropped up in the Central Valley. Called to assist again, the associations engaged with the state in its response and the unified support teams it deployed in several Central Valley counties. The hospital associations — California Hospital Association, Hospital Council of Northern and Central California, Hospital Association of Southern California, and Hospital Association of San Diego and Imperial Counties — stand ready to communicate, coordinate, and facilitate in any way needed in the event of future surges.
